Backwards Metamorphosis Library
15 February 2015

Taking Franz Kafka’s novella Metamorphosis as a starting point, each text in this collection reverses the sentences of the original so that the story begins after the protagonist’s death and ends at the implication that he will wake up human. It subverts the quintessential linear narrative to indicate a labyrinth of language. An ongoing archive, Backwards Metamorphosis Library includes backwards translations from the original German into 17 languages, plus the original German, with further translations to be included as they are produced.
